Random Stuff

Last Updated on Monday, 10 May 2010 09:57 Written by akpace Friday, 14 May 2010 03:27

Here is some good stuff I have been meaning to post and don’t want to bore everyone with too many posts. So here are three things I acquired recently that are really incredible and highly recommended if you are in the market for any of them.  Let me know if you like this feature and Ashlee and I can come up with stuff more often.

Wrapsol Ultra
– These guys wrap an iPhone in their plastic wrap and drag it behind a car only to unwrap it and have it come out completely unscathed.  I put it on my phone recently and like it a lot more than a bulky case.  I have only dropped the phone once from about 4 feet and it survived without a scratch.  They claim 6 foot drop protection but won’t guarantee it.  I think this stuff is great.

Blendtec Total Blender – This blender is the one that is famous on the internet for the will it blend videos.  They grind up just about everything you can think of.  Most recently and iPad.  We burned out two blenders last year grinding up puppy food.  This one powers through the stuff like it is nothing.  The blade looks more like a garbage disposal blade than a blender.  Wow!

Steelcase Leap Chair – This one I luckily found on Craig’s List for way cheaper than MSRP and don’t know if it would be worth it to buy new, but it is an amazing chair.  I compared it to the Herman Miller Aeron and Embody chairs and eventually went with the Leap chair.  It has truly incredible ergonomicness.  Highly recommended.  I used the Aeron chairs a lot at work and like the mesh breathe ability but the precise fit is just not there.

Chariot Carrier – In Ashlee’s and my minds this company is the only one to go with for a sport stroller.  You buy the chassis then get kits.  I have used the bike, jogging, stroller, and cross country ski kits.  They all are effortless.  Now if only my girls weren’t getting so big I could really move fast.  Hannah and Mara are in it below.

Record Snowfall

Last Updated on Wednesday, 10 February 2010 10:14 Written by akpace Wednesday, 10 February 2010 10:03

We got a record amount of snow in the Chicago area.  12.9 inches.  It was really fun and even shoveling it wasn’t too bad.  Here is a photo of Ashlee’s car just about buried.  Another little known fact is that there was a 4.2 magnitude earthquake too.  Maybe the weight of all the snow triggered it.  The dogs and Hannah are loving the snow, but it is too deep for everyone except Cinder.

Family Portrait

This is our first family portrait to include Mara.  It turned out really nice.  It reminds me of the Garth Brooks song “Two of a Kind Working on a Full House.”  Enjoy the music and the next time you hear it, we really will be.

Hannah Eating Some Edamame

Last Updated on Sunday, 31 January 2010 10:46 Written by akpace Sunday, 17 January 2010 09:27

Hannah has had edamame on a couple occasions in the past, but tonight she figured out how to get the little beans out of their wrapper on her own.  Unfortunately, by the time we thought about getting some video of it, she was already pretty full.  So most of the video is her talking about all the errands she has to do.  Enjoy the video, it is still pretty cute.

Hannah in the Deep Snow

We had a pretty big snow storm in Chicago a couple days ago.  We got about 8 inches over the course of about 24 hours.  Hannah and the doggies of course love it.  Here is a short video of Hannah trying to walk through the snow and some photos of Nadia standing up to her elbows.
